[Life is stronger than cancer]
"Don't forget..."
"Forget what?"
"You're still alive!"

On December 13, 2018, French graphic novelist Magali Le Huche's life was split in two.
Magali, just turned forty, had two young daughters and was planning the publication of her next work. However, a small physical abnormality she noticed on an ordinary day led to her acquiring a new identity: breast cancer patient.
From the anxiety of receiving an abnormal report, the unease of further precise examinations, to the shock of diagnosis, the anger of revisiting her family's medical history, and a series of physical and mental trials including pre- and post-surgery and breast reconstruction, Magali honestly recorded everything with her paintbrush: not only as a patient, how to fight against "the king of all diseases" cancer and genetic inheritance, but also, as a young woman, how she re-examined her body with new eyes: What exactly is a breast that can no longer lactate? What is a body after an organ has been removed? Is breast removal a permanent solution? What defines a woman? Why is there a family medical history, yet it's never discussed?

Through her own experiences, Magali directly addresses how the shame of illness and social discrimination oppress patients' minds, and describes how breast cancer changes the daily lives of contemporary young women, their career plans, and their perceptions of their bodies and selves. The book uses vibrant colors and a humorous, direct tone. The punk music and The Clash that run through the images not only usher in a new chapter in her "second life" after falling ill, but also demonstrate how art can be a supportive force in life.
