Wong Hoi-ching's "Art Basel" was completed and first exhibited in 2019 – the last physical Art Basel Hong Kong before the global COVID-19 pandemic. The artwork depicts the flourishing global art market before the pandemic, capturing and arranging fleeting moments to shape the overall image of the fair into a vivid tableau: a social occasion brimming with both observation and being observed, and simultaneously a platform for self-display. Art fairs are not only places where art itself is presented but also where audiences can showcase themselves.
