The book is divided into two main sections: "Depicting the Natural Environment" and "Depicting Human Activity," featuring a highly diverse range of map works. Some maps draw on infographic strategies, such as abstractly representing public transportation routes while simultaneously showing passenger movement patterns and physical geographical features; others use traditional cartographic techniques to explore contemporary issues, such as:
