Food Pose
Food Pose
"Ice Fruit Room" pottery series is a fresh product of Chen Xiangrong's creative project "Xiangrong Fruit Shop".
Ceramic artist Chen Xiangrong is good at purifying ideas and kneading them into various pottery works with unique shapes. Although they have no obvious use, they are subtly integrated into daily life-as if "reasonable and unreasonable existence" in life, Chen said. His faience pottery contains the colors and shapes of various common fruits, with a bright and neat attitude, full of a certain tropical atmosphere and full of life interest.
In "Food Pose", Chen repositions the food in the kitchen, allowing food and pottery to reflect and interpret each other.
This series of pottery works was exhibited in "The Coconut Show - Xiangrong Fruit Shop Ceramics Creation Exhibition" in Pengding, Taipei in 2016.
The pottery series “Ice & Juice Bar” is freshly made by Hsian Jung Chen in his studio The Fruit Shop.
Chen often distills idea into pottery forms of no obvious utility, but yet they go in harmony with everyday life — a “rational irrationality”, as the artist puts it, that exists in life. The modestly glazed pieces carry the reminiscence of colors, forms and delights of many common fruits, and a certain tropical temperature in the nature that inspires the artist.
In Food Pose, Chen installs the food sets in the kitchen. The food and pottery duo reflects and interprets each other.
The original pottery pieces were shown in Chen's solo exhibition “The Coconut Show” at Pon Ding in Taipei, 2016.
