"HKG" is the airport code for Hong Kong. Embodying the transient nature of an airport, Hong Kong photographer Alfred Ko adopted this as the title for his photobook published in 1998.
《HKG》witnesses and records the social, political, and psychological turmoil experienced by Hong Kong people before the handover of sovereignty from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China in July 1997. Twenty years later, 《HKG》is being re-edited and republished, including not only the original photographs but also new works taken after 1997. Looking back at that "borrowed space, borrowed time," and reflecting on the present, what kind of time and space do we live in now?
《HKG – 20th Anniversary Edition》will be officially launched in March 2018. It is currently available for pre-order at the "HANDOVER 20th" photography exhibition. Among these, 97 copies are limited collector's editions, which will come with an elegant slipcase and an archival photograph (signed), making them even more valuable for collectors.
