It's hard for students to speak their minds.
Interrogative tones and critical modes should be avoided.
What's better than talking while playing?
One question, one card. Students draw cards and answer. This is the simplest and most time-saving way to produce the game, but we know that students won't be very interested in playing this way.
So, a difficult task began more than half a year ago. Our team meticulously read through thousands of heartfelt message cards from the "I Want to Tell You That I'm Not Happy" exhibition, selected suitable content, and printed it on the question cards. We hope that these real sentences will resonate with students before they answer the questions, encourage them to think from different perspectives, and add another layer of meaning to the set – documenting the voices of Hongkongers!
The game was planned by art psychotherapist Gigi, using the Emotion Guardians we previously developed as the main characters. It tells the story of the amygdala, the most sensitive part of the brain, suddenly losing control, and everyone needs to discuss how to extinguish the fire in the amygdala.
The game cards are not just simple Q&A. Instead, there are clever function cards and heartfelt message badges, adding to the excitement and competitive spirit of playing a board game. We firmly believe that the relaxed atmosphere of the game will help students express their feelings, talk about their experiences at home, their views on interpersonal relationships and themselves, and so on.
Inside the box, there is also a stack of "Heartfelt Practice Cards." Knowing that some students may not like to speak in front of others, students can use simple art creations on the cards to express their inner thoughts. Teachers and social workers can learn more from this.
