In 2011, deaf individuals Lulu and Ah Kei, together with hearing person Yi Xuan, collaborated to translate the spatial aesthetics of sign language into linear text on the page. It includes wartime experiences from a deaf perspective, the origins of Hong Kong Sign Language, and detailed accounts of the deaf community and their living conditions. There are also stories of how hard-of-hearing individuals and their families influenced each other's lives, interspersed with the hearing author's lively and at times emotional interview reflections.

In 2025, the shortage of professional sign language interpreters remains a difficult problem, while inclusive education, cochlear implants and hearing aids, lip-reading, and spoken language continue to be the prevailing trends. Re-reading this delicate book of life, will it reveal new horizons, or will the landscape remain the same?

Features the life trajectories of eight individuals: deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing family members.

Each story is accompanied by illustrative graphics and sign language videos, along with historical information and common knowledge about deaf people and sign language in Hong Kong.
