A book needs its own shape, just as an oak sprouts from an acorn and a pine from a pine cone, a suitable book cover can expand the content of the book itself. As a world-renowned publishing brand, Penguin Books has always led the trend with its high-standard design and constantly subverted our imagination. And behind this "seemingly effortless" is actually the countless almost paranoid confrontations and adjustments of "detail lovers", trying to interpret the concept of a book more accurately from the dimension of the cover.

Genius, eccentric, ghostly genius, stunning, unsightly, and eccentric, there are a thousand ideal covers in the eyes of a thousand people——Penguin art director Paul Buckley selected 75 extremely representative covers from the works of the past few decades The author, agent, designer, and editor are put on the same page in a revolutionary cover case, and candidly comment on the gains and losses of the cover, which is full of wit and poignancy; reveals the little-known behind-the-scenes stories, and tells the hardships of the design from conception to formation , learn about Penguin Random House's rich, eclectic design art.

Paul Buckley is Senior Vice President and Creative Director of Penguin Random House. He and his talented design team and art director have directed the cover art for a number of publishers, including Penguin Books, Viking Press, Penguin Hardcover, Riverhead, Pamela Dorman Books, Portfolio Literary Quarterly, The Sentinel Publishing House and Nowadays Publishing House, etc. His signature design style and unique art direction have featured on countless best-selling book covers, earned him hundreds of honors, and is a frequent guest speaker in the United States and abroad. The works of him and his team of designers can be seen in every major design yearbook, and of course, in every bookstore. Paul now lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Insu Liu, who is the artistic director of Norton Publishing. They often debated publication for hours, and each claimed support for a cover the other had vetoed.
