Pirouette

The new work, "Pirouette," is published by New High Land, a publishing house recently established by Luc and Huang Hai-Hsin.

This 150-page photobook features visual fragments captured by Luc in Taiwan, New York, and Paris since 2020. The title "Pirouette" refers to the ballet term for "turn" or "spin," with the core idea not being about a fancy dance move, but about a shift in perspective.

This is not just a collection of casual snapshots, but an experiment in visual reassembly. Luc deconstructs seemingly mundane everyday scenes. Through changes in shutter and lens, he performs repeated "flips of thought" within the viewfinder. Familiar streets are re-arranged and recombined after a turn, opening new perspectives for the viewer. Unexpected juxtapositions in reality are cleverly placed side-by-side in the book, creating an exhilarating cognitive jolt and incredible comedic effect.

With spiral binding that allows pages to turn, and musical notes printed on the spine, it makes you want to whistle while looking through it, and ideally, even twirl on your tiptoes!
